DAVENPORT HOUSE HOSTS “YELLOW FEVER IN SAVANNAH 1820” THIS OCT.
(SAVANNAH, GA) The Davenport House will host “Yellow Fever in Savannah 1820” on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the month of October. In 1820, the city of Savannah experienced a widespread outbreak of yellow fever. The Davenport House will recreate the epidemic and pay special emphasis on Savannah’s first female physician, Mary Lavinder. Guests will walk through the candlelit house and see the fat and experiences that affected half the city first hand. These reenactments will take place on Oct. 1, 7, 8, 14, 21, 22, 28, 29 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $22 in advance and $25 at the door, reservations are recommended due to limited space.
