(SAVANNAH) – Michael Frey has joined Savannah sustainable real estate development company Melaver, Inc. as a Sustainability Associate.
As Sustainability Associate, Frey will handle LEED documentation, environmental footprint data collection and analysis, outreach and education, research of green building materials, and case studies. Frey will also be conducting research in relation to municipal policies, providing ongoing analysis of portfolio energy and water usages, and collection of data for third-party consultancy work.

A LEED Accredited Professional, Frey has experience with sustainable building concepts, practices and strategies and project management. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council signifies the person has demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes. LEED certification of buildings is the internationally-recognized standard for high performance, low water and energy use buildings awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Frey recently worked as an associate with a sustainable design and construction firm in Massachusetts, where he managed projects for LEED certification, worked directly with consultants to provide LEED training and support, and worked on LEED projects with consultants providing support and submittals to the U.S. Green Building Council. Previously, Frey was Assistant Manager for Half-Moon Outfitters and an intern for Charleston City Planning Commission.

Frey is currently working toward a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Harvard University Extension School, studying Design, Construction and Operations of Sustainable Buildings. He has a B.A. in Geography from the University of South Carolina with a concentration in Planning and a minor in Business Administration

Melaver, Inc. is a third-generation, family-owned business based in Savannah, Georgia. The sustainable real estate developer currently has eight LEED certified projects in their portfolio and developed one of the first LEED certified buildings in the U.S. which is also on the National Register of Historic Places.
