Local companies are invited to take part in one of Savannah’s most highly anticipated sporting events, the Tail 2009 USTA $50,000 Savannah Challenger. The Adopt-a-Player program will give Savannah businesses an opportunity to have one-on-one interaction with some of the world’s best tennis players and watch them compete in USTA matches. The Tail 2009 USTA $50,000 Savannah Challenger, which takes place May 2-10, 2009 at the Franklin Creek Tennis Center at The Landings on Skidaway Island, will feature world-ranked tennis professionals vying to win highly coveted ATP ranking points in addition to prize money. Andre Agassi and Jim Courier are among past participants who have participated in Challenger Series tournaments. Through the Adopt-a-Player program, 32 local companies will have an opportunity to serve as hosts to the tournament’s professional tennis players. Each company will be assigned a player and will offer hospitality services. The hospitality services are at the discretion of the participating companies and may include taking the players to dinner, giving them a tour of the city, providing phone numbers to call if they have any questions, and offering other services to make their stay in Savannah a positive experience. In turn, the participating companies will have a once- in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet their players during their initial matches and have their photos taken with them. There is no charge for companies to sign up for the Adopt-a-Player program, and participating companies may even benefit from the free publicity related to their involvement in the program. The Association of Tennis Professionals Tail 2009 USTA $50,000 Savannah Challenger, sponsored by Tail Activewear and presented by the Savannah Sports Council, will take place May 2-10, 2009, at the Franklin Creek Tennis Center on Skidaway Island in Savannah, Georgia.
