The National AMBUCCS organization was founded as American Business Clubs, a membership organization dedicated to helping people with different abilities. In 1961, the organization shortened it to AMBUCS. AMBUCS now has more than 5,000 members in more than 140 chapters in over 30 states.

In the mid-1990s the organization started making and giving away therapeutic tricycles as a national project. Amtryke, LLC is fully owned by National AMBUCS, Inc. About 3,000 Amtrykes are distributed to individuals in need each year.

The Savannah AMBUCS hosts adaptive bowling events for adults with different abilities. There are 70 weekly adult bowlers that join the games on Saturdays. Savannah AMBUCS members host various fundraising opportunities to cover the cost associated with these events.
