(SAVANNAH) – Short sales and foreclosures have received a lot of
attention in the past year for the great deals they can offer, but
buyers often later realize the complex transactions can have pitfalls
for those without expert help. In order to provide that assistance,
the National Association of Realtors developed a certification program
in short sales and foreclosures. Several Savannah and Bluffton/Hilton
Head South Carolina Lowcountry real estate experts with Celia Dunn
Sotheby’s International Realty have received certification in short
sales and foreclosures.
The real estate experts are Lynne Bozeman, Marion Callaway, Ted
Clarke, Bob Dixon, Celia Dunn, Carolyn Ezelle, Lucy Hitch, Lu
Hostetter, Helen Williams Johnson, Susan Myers, Margaret Pearl, Sally
Robinson, Tom Sharpe , Lavinia Strong, Pam Sutton, Lauren Tomhave and
Lee Wilkes.
“It’s always important to have an experienced real estate
professional on your side looking out for your best interests, but I
think it’s even more important to have the guidance of an expert
Realtor these days, especially if you’re venturing into short
sales or foreclosures,” said Celia Dunn of Celia Dunn Sotheby’s
International Realty. “There are benefits but also risks to
those sales, and you need someone who understands all the complex
minutiae. We saw this certification as a way to give even better
service.”
The program includes training on how to manage short-sale,
foreclosure, and real-estate owned transactions, and provides
resources to help Realtors stay current on national and state-specific
information as the market for these distressed properties evolves.
Short sales and foreclosures can be complicated and risky without the
advice of a trained Realtor who knows the possible pitfalls of these
transactions. Although foreclosure situations are sad and unfortunate,
when a foreclosure purchase takes place, it helps the surrounding area
recover more quickly.
