Photoshoot in Forsyth Park Aims to Break Through Barriers that Discourage Breastfeeding

(SAVANNAH, GA) A photoshoot celebrating and honoring Black moms for Black Breastfeeding Week will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 in Forsyth Park. Presented by Glow Lactation and supported by YMCA of Coastal Georgia and Healthy Savannah through funding from the Centers for Disease Control’s Racial & Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) grant, organizers are also hoping the event will bring increased awareness to the disparities that discourage breastfeeding by Black mothers in Chatham County and help identify opportunities to remove those obstacles.

LOWCOUNTRY DOWN SYNDROME SOCIETY ANNOUNCES CAMP BUDDY CHATHAM COUNTY, JULY 12-15

(CHATHAM COUNTY) The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) will be hosting their annual Camp Buddy summer camp for Chatham County July 12-15 at the community center on the Islands High School campus at 170 Whitmarsh Island Rd. Camp Buddy is for children of all ages with Down syndrome and is designed to help students prepare for the upcoming school year with a specially designed curriculum. Seale Navare will serve as Head Special Education Teacher for the camp session.

Healthy Savannah and YMCA Seek Community Voices for Vaccine Access and Acceptance Think Tank

(SAVANNAH, GA) Healthy Savannah and YMCA of Coastal Georgia are holding “Listening Sessions” to seek input in developing a community-led training program on COVID-19 vaccine awareness and acceptance.

The first two of three planned sessions were held on June 9 and 10. Participants were asked to share their thoughts about vaccine acceptance.
