Rotary Club of Savannah announces Hugh “Trip” Tollison as 2022-23 President-Elect, Names Board of Directors

(SAVANNAH, GA) Hugh “Trip” Tollison, President and CEO of the Savannah Economic Development Authority, has been elected as the 2022-23 president of The Rotary Club of Savannah. On June 13, the gavel will be passed to Tollison by outgoing president Marjorie Young, founder and CEO of Carriage Trade Public Relations® Inc. The ceremony will take place at the DeSoto on Liberty Street at 12:30 p.m.

Georgia Arbor Day Tree Planting at Wormsloe State Historic Site

Savannah, GA, January 24, 2022 – The public is invited to help plant 30 new Live Oak trees on Wormsloe State Historic Site’s “Avenue of Oaks,” located at 7601 Skidaway Road. The event will start at noon on Saturday, February 19, 2022. A brief ceremony will precede the plantings near the brown fence by the Visitor’s Center. Holes will be dug in advance of the ceremony by SavATree, making it easier for volunteers to help plant the 12-foot-tall saplings. This event will happen rain or shine.

ISLE OF HOPE MARINA HOSTS FUNDRAISER FOR WORMSLOE TREE REPLACEMENT PROJECT, OCT 7, 2021

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Isle of Hope Marina is hosting a Pavilion-Party fundraiser to raise money for the Wormsloe Tree Replacement Project on the Avenue of Oaks. Out of the 400 trees, 75 need replacing due to storm damage and age. The event is Thursday, October 7 from 6:30p.m. to 10p.m. Live music provided by Fellowship of Love. Arts and Crafts will be available to buy for a donation. The suggested entrance donation is $25 or $40 per couple, children 12 and under are free. Hot dogs and snacks will be provided. Beer and Wine will be available to purchase with proper ID.

Operation Seafarer Vaccination Launches in Savannah, Georgia

(SAVANNAH, GA) International seafarers will be vaccinated in Savannah starting Monday, May 24 at 8:45 a.m. as part of Operation Seafarer Vaccination. The new project was developed by the Rotary Club of Savannah (RCoS) in partnership with the Chatham County Health Department/Coastal Health District, Community Organized Relief Efforts (CORE), Curogram, Georgia Ports Authority, Colonial Group, Inc., Viksniks Consultants and Maritime Bethel Savannah.
